Texas concert Monaco

“Life’s too short, let’s work it out” goes the visionary and pertinent chorus of the first catchy single from the brilliant new album by Texas, “Jump On Board”, which brings the band’s current album count to 9. This album is the sound of a band which is totally at ease and comfortable with itself, packed with hits influenced by Northern Soul, disco, and by founding British bands like the Bee Gees or Orange Juice. Texas has never been afraid to do its own thing. It’s a band that’s been around for a long time, which is rare, and “Jump On  Board” offers a characteristic style while at the same time creating flashbacks that recall these much-loved reference hits:   “Say What You Want”, “Halo”, “Black Eyed Boy”, “Summer Son”, songs which span a career of nearly 30 years and 40 million albums sold. In 2017, Texas is more vibrant than ever, and the success story of this British band is still going strong. “Jump On Board” is both a spirited regeneration and a triumphant confirmation of a lifetime belief in the power of universal pop music. “We feel refreshed”, Sharleen says with a smile. “We definitely had a great time making this record.  It’s time to jig it all up. It’s like a new beginning. It’s the next part of our story, and we’re loving it”.

Texas will be performing on Friday 24th November at Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo.

Opening act: Sirius Plan

Sirius Plan will be opening for Texas, on Friday 24 November at the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo, on the occasion of the 12th edition of the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival. If you want to redefine rock and feminity, you’re on it. Sirius Plan is a free trio, wild and refined. It all started in a hotel room one festival evening. A guitar and 3 girls jamming in the night. “We realised that we shared the same passion, music on a human scale.” They really got caught up in it. On stage, the Franco-Belgian voice trio has a unique charm that won over more than one admirer… Laurent Voulzy invited them to open for his tour. Then they played with Emmanuel Moire and, in 2015, Louis Bertignac took them along on tour. They did 3 tours of France, passing in Switzerland and Belgium too. In 2016, they released their album “Dog River sessions”, recorded in Alabama, and went on tour in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida. April 2017, they played at the International Festival of Louisiana. They rapidly became a festival favourite, and played in front of thousands of people, followed by three concerts in New York in May 2017. Back in France again, they are returning to the studio to work on new songs, now that they’ve recorded in the USA, and they’re carrying on just like they started: a guitar and 3 girls who sing with their hearts, purely and simply, in harmony.
